The Nature Explore Classroom at
Growing Minds Learning Center

Growing Minds Learning Center is celebrating their 4th year as a certified Nature Explore Classroom.

Many certified Nature Explore Classrooms have a wonderful time involving staff and children in the process of creating a name for their space and for each of the areas within their space.

Growing Minds has named their outdoor classroom Seedlings' Journey. The names given to each area are unique and help bring not only a vivid mental picture of the space but also create opportunities for an abundance of imaginary situations and adventures.

The yard is full of garden beds, trees, bushes and vines. These native plants were chosen to offer a longer bloom time through the season. Using native plants also encourages animals to come into the yard. Adding annuals brings more color in the late spring. Large stones and large logs create borders, seating areas and tables. Storage boxes are made from sturdy, weather resistant cedar.

The children are free to make bird feeders and various other outdoor art creations during their time spent in the Seedling's Journey. Families and also the public are invited to seasonal event nights which take place in the Nature Explore classroom free of charge. All activities are themed for the season and nature based.
