Our Coffee Helps Preserve the World’s Precious Rain Forests

  • The Rain Forest Rescue® program is helping preserve the Maya Forest, which stretches across southern Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.
  • Rain forests provide the most diverse natural habitat on the planet, with over 200,000 species of plants.
  • Many rain forest plants provide today’s medicines, and many more that are yet to be tested for their medical value.
  • Scientists have identified 3,000 plants as having anti-cancer properties. 70% of them are found only in the rain forest.
  • A majority of the 9,672 species of birds on earth inhabit our rain forests, including hummingbirds, parrots, toucans, cuckoos, tanagers, and finches.
  • Many of the songbirds we enjoy in our yards every summer spend their winters in the rain forests of Central and South America.
  • Many butterflies and moths migrate to rain forests in the winter, and then spend their summers in our backyards.
